If you are receiving the following error when trying to remove a FTP user account :

The anonymous user cannot be removed.If you wish to disable anonymous ftp access,please use theAnonymous Ftp Controls.

Please do the following to delete the account:

Go to cPanel's File Manager and locate /etc/ftpquota. Select and edit the ftpquota file, then delete the ftp accounts that display 'anonymous user' in cPanel's FTP Accounts page. Save, that's it, the 'anonymous user' FTP accounts are gone!
